Swimming with the turtles at Galleon Beach
Galleon Beach (Freeman’s Bay) is a fun-packed area where you can snorkel with turtles, swim out to a shipwreck, view the Pillars of Hercules and take a hike out to Mermaid Gardens.
This beach has everything you could ask for when on an island. With a quarter mile of golden sand and crystal clear calm waters, you can snorkel reef 75ft offshore, kayak, take a paddle board out, or just relax on the beach. You can even snorkel in a new way with a power snorkelling adventure with Scooter Snorkeling Tours.
“This was by far the best snorkelling experience I ever had. On the tour, we saw several sea turtles, sting rays, colourful fish and even a barracuda!”

When snorkelling in this area you can see the beautiful formations of natural rocks both above and below the water. The Pillars of Hercules is a gorgeous chain of rock that was formed by the ocean and it is located about ten minutes away from The Beach Houses. Some of the ocean life that you will have the chance to experience are turtles, sting rays, eagle rays, octopus, squids, sea cucumber, lobster, barracuda, lionfish, and needle nose fish, parrot fish and many other assorted tropical fish.
