When you arrive in Antigua, one of the very first locations you will be told to visit is Shirley Heights. This spot is a favourite for both locals and tourists!

Every Thursday is Reggae night, and every Sunday is Soca night, both nights are accompanied by live music by wonderful local bands, delicious food including barbeque, tasty drinks, and lots of dancing. Be certain to arrive before the sun goes down because that is part of the magic. Speaking about magic, look out for the famous “green flash” when gazing at the sunset. This breathtaking and iconic location will take your breath away. When the sun is down, the stars come out and another spectacular show is created from the lights of English Harbour.

Shirley Heights is a restored military lookout and gun battery. The lookout is a high point, measuring approximately 490 ft. The view consists of a spectacular view of both English and Falmouth Harbour. The historical cobblestone buildings have been transformed into a restaurant and bars. And if you are on the adventurous side there is a lookout trail that runs from Galleon Beach to Shirley Heights, it can be a bit of a challenge, but the views are worth it.
